The British Racing And Sports Car Club (BRSCC) made their final visit of the 2018 season to a sunny Oulton Park with four-wheel action for the Avon Tyres Formula Ford, Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge, Superkarts and Alfa Romeo Challenge.

For the first of 22-minute races for Post ’89 and ‘Pre 90 Formula Fords, Michael Eastwell was on pole with Tom McArthur alongside. On row two were Rory Smith and Chris Middlehurst.

At the start Eastwell took the lead from Tom McArthur, Smith and David McArthur from row three.

Middlehurst was in fourth by the end of lap one and Tom McArthur retired on lap two leaving the order Eastwell, Smith, Middlehurst and David McArthur.

Eastwell pulled away from Smith who in turn pulled away from Middlehurst and McArthur, Middlehurst spending the rest of the race having to work hard to keep McArthur behind.

Matthew Chisholm retired from fifth place on lap five to give the place to Jack Wolfenden who took the Pre ’90 class win. Eastwell took the flag by 12 seconds from Smith, Middlehurst and McArthur.

Race two grid was based on the results from race one so Eastwell was on pole with Smith alongside.

At the start Eastwell took the lead again from Smith. As they came across the line for the first time the order was Eastwell, Smith, Middlehurst and David McArthur, these four pulling away from Wolfenden in fifth.

Tom McArthur, who started at the back of the grid due to his non-finish in race one, was already up to seventh and on a charge.

David McArthur took third on lap three and the top four then began to spread out. By the end of lap six Tom McArthur was up to fifth, six seconds behind fourth place Middlehurst.

The first three remained the same to the flag, Tom McArthur reeling in Middlehurst to take fourth on the final lap. Jack Wolfenden finished sixth and once again took Pre ’90 honours.

In other events Roger Evans took two wins in the Alfa Romeo challenge. Both ST-XR challenge races were won by Michael Heath.

The Cockshoot Cup round was won by Gary Wetton and there was a win for Andrew Gulliford in the Superkarts.
