A celebrity football match will take place in memory of a ten-year-old Bowdon boy who died from a sudden, acute asthma attack.
Isaac Maley, a pupil at Bowdon CofE School, died in August last year and his parents Vicky and Andrew have been receiving counselling from charity Once Upon a Smile.
Isaac was a keen footballer and played for Altrincham FC Tigers so his parents and friends decided the ‘There’s Only One Isaac Maley’ match in his honour would be a fitting tribute.
The game will take place at Altrincham FC on Sunday, April 24, with celebrities expected to include actors Ralf Little and Danny Miller, and X Factor’s Jake Quickenden.
Dad Andrew is a former player, having played for Altrincham and York, and he will be joined by ex-pros and friends on the Moss Lane pitch to take on the celebrity line-up.
Family friend Andrew Brannan, who has been helping organise the event, said: “Ever since we set up the committee to organise this charity match, the offers of help have been amazing, most notably from Altrincham Football Club who have allowed us to use the ground and the new community hall.”
The day will begin with a match at 12 noon between Altrincham FC Tigers and a team from Bowdon CofE School,
Around 600 tickets have so far been sold via Once Upon A Smile and kick off for the main game is 2pm.
The ground has a capacity of 3,500, tickets are £2 for adults and £1 juniors with all proceeds going to the family.
