Burnage Metro FC Ladies have enjoyed their inaugural season playing in the Greater Manchester Women’s League.

In an astonishing night and an amazing performance they took the GM League Challenge Cup playing at Ashton United against Reddish North Ladies.

Burnage Metro FC Ladies dominated the early stages with Kym Hackett going near but it was Reddish who took the lead with a neat finish.

Burnage continued to apply pressure but lost Hannah Parsons through injury after a great last-ditch challenge.

The equaliser came early in the second half with a superb finish from Kate Ellis and they then took the lead through Jade McCarthy after good work from Katie Salisbury and Beth Gilbert.

Keeping up the momentum Burnage extended their lead through Rachel Crambell but Reddish stormed back to level with two goal in the last ten minutes.

But Burnage showed their battling qualities and winning intent as they bagged a late winner from Kate Ellis to achieve a great win for the newly formed team.

  • Burnage plan to run two teams next season and are holding free ‘Come and Play’ sessions on Sunday afternoons for players aged 11 upwards. If interested contact either Charlene Bell on 07870 569905 or Russell Hoyte on 07876 688978.
