Foodie Friday and Heatons Hops winners at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival

Stockport’s Foodie Friday and Heatons Hops in Heaton Chapel are celebrating after being crowned winners at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival awards.

Celebrating the best of food and drink from across Greater Manchester, Foodie Friday and Heatons Hops were winners at the glittering awards dinner.

The announcements were made following months of judging by leading food and drink critics, visits by mystery shoppers and public voting.

Foodie Friday picked up the ‘Best Food and Drink Pop Up Event, Club or Project’ Award.

Since its launch three years ago, Foodie Friday has grown into a ‘must go to’ event drawing visitors from across Manchester to Stockport Market Place on the last Friday of every month  to enjoy high-quality street food, craft beer and live entertainment.

Heatons Hops scooped the brand new ‘Craft Ale Bar of the Year’ Award.

Having gone from strength to strength since their opening on School Lane, Heaton Chapel, last year, this award builds on their success in the 2015 Manchester Evening News City Life Awards.

Councillor Kate Butler, Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “I am thrilled that both Foodie Friday and Heatons Hops have won at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards, but also want to congratulate the many Stockport runners up who were highlighted in the shortlist too.

“Having so many of our local restaurants, bars and events recognised by the awards this year is amazing and shines a spotlight on Stockport’s growing food and drink offer.”
