PBM Ducati rider Christian Iddon took his first ever victory in the Bennetts British Superbike Championshi as the series visited Snetterton for rounds four, five and six of the 2020 calendar.

The Stockport rider started seventh on the grid for the opening race around the Norfolk venue and after a dream start climbed to second on the opening lap, chasing down pole-sitter Danny Buchan.

Four laps in and a mistake from Buchan after a brief safety car period saw him crash out, leaving Iddon with a clear track ahead.

The former Supermoto champion edged a gap out to team-mate Josh Brookes, but the Australian had other ideas and went for the lead into turn one at about three-quarters distance.

Iddon countering brilliantly as he immediately recovered the lead just one corner later and never looked back as the chequered flag flew on his first ever British Superbike win.

“It’s been a long time coming and a long old road, so to finally get the win is brilliant,” he said.

“Paul Bird and the VisionTrack Ducati team put their faith in me when other people weren’t so sure, but Paul was, and I really appreciate that so hopefully this is just the beginning.”

Iddon finished fifth in race two and third in the final race – he is third in the standings as the BSB Championship heads to Silverstone for September 4-6.

Elsewhere, fellow Stockport rider Ben Luxton took his second race win of the season, the JR Performance Racing rider cementing his spot at the top of the 2020 standings of the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship aboard his Kawasaki ZX6R 636 from ninth place on the grid.
