Stockport’s Kyle Hornby is in confident mood as the Renault UK Clio Cup heads to his ‘home’ round at Oulton Park in Cheshire this weekend following steady improvements from the former Ginetta racer at the opening three rounds of the 2017 championship.

The Team Pyro racer will be competing around Oulton’s ‘Island’ configuration, a 2.2mile circuit set in beautiful rolling Cheshire countryside.

Oulton Park has seen some prestigious names grace its track over the years including Formula One champions Jackie Stewart, Jenson Button, and Lewis Hamilton.

And with mention of Hamilton, there’s a new entry to the UK Clio Cup for what will be Rounds 7 and 8 of the championship – Nicholas Hamilton, brother of triple Formula One world champion Lewis, joins the Series for the rest of the 2017 campaign.

Hornby goes to Oulton Park on the back of an eventful Thruxton meeting, where the Hazel Grove youngster avoided several incidents to take some solid finishes in his first year at the wheel of a Renault Clio.

“I’ve had constant improvements in every round so far so I’d like to carry that on to Oulton Park,” said Hornby.

“I love the circuit, it’s one of the best on the calendar, and I’m looking forward to entertaining guests coming to my home race.”

The Race weekend runs across the May 20&21 with qualifying and race one on Saturday and race two on Sunday live on ITV4.
