The Macclesfield Beer Festival is toasting its ‘best year ever’. The annual event at Macclesfield Rugby Club, and supported by Macclesfield Round Table and CAMRA, served more than 4,000 visitors over the weekend.

And it was all for Seashell Trust in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, a charity that gives children and young adults with complex learning disabilities the support and education they need to have a healthy and happy life.

The money raised is going towards a pavilion and outdoor area for the charity’s students to enjoy.

Ben Whiteley, from Macclesfield Round Table, said 115 volunteers donated their time.

He said: “We haven’t counted up how much we’ve raised but it’s fair to say it’s been the best year ever.”

Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, added: “We are so grateful to everyone involved in the beer festival for all their work in raising funds for us.

“It was a fabulous event and we are overwhelmed with the support Seashell received from everyone who attended, all of the volunteers and the committee.

“Thanks to them we are able to build a new bandstand for our residential students to use which will enable them to really use the beautiful outdoor space we have.”
