New industrial park for Stockport has been given the go-ahead

The industrial park will provide a mix of units within a secure, well managed environment

A new industrial park in Stockport has been given the green light after Stockport Council granted full planning permission for the development of ‘Aurora’ Stockport.

Located alongside junction 1 of the M60, the multi-million-pound investment will transform an 18 acre site into a modern 145,000 sq ft industrial park, creating a new employment area for the town bringing with it jobs and opportunities for residents and businesses alike.

With light industrial units ranging from 8,700 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft, Aurora Stockport will give companies the opportunity to run their business from new premises in one of the best connected locations in the North West.

The industrial park will provide a mix of units within a secure, well managed environment.

This decision marks a key milestone for Aurora Stockport and means work on the development can move forward.  Construction is expected to begin shortly, with the first units being available from early 2017.

Aurora Stockport is one of the Growth projects being undertaken as part of Stockport Council’s Investing in Stockport programme.  The £900 million investment programme is seeing Stockport build on its strengths through a range of ambitious projects, each aimed at making the town an even better place to live, work and visit.

Stockport continues to enjoy high demand for quality industrial units due to the town’s exceptional connectivity and workforce.  This popularity has seen other local developments become fully occupied, and it is on the back of this success that the Council has chosen to proceed with this development.

Councillor Patrick McAuley, Executive Member for Thriving Economy at Stockport Council said: “I am so pleased that planning permission has been granted for Aurora Stockport.  I regularly speak to companies who are looking for quality industrial space in our town, this development sees us taking a proactive step in providing this and will bring with it new jobs and opportunities for residents.”

CBRE have been appointed as agents for Aurora Stockport (Stephen Capper 0161 233 5616) with Carillion and CBRE advising on the development.  The planning application was developed and submitted in conjunction with HOW Planning.
