Landing the title role in Ken Loach’s ‘I, Daniel Blake’ was a dream come true for veteran comic Dave Johns but even he couldn’t quite believe it when the film won the prestigious Palm D’Or award at Cannes Film Festival.

Currently supporting Sean Lock on his UK tour, Johns will be back at the comedy coalface when he opens Comedy @ Chorlton Irish Club on Friday, June 3.

Johns won’t be the only star on the bill though as the headliner is Rob Rouse, who is currently starring in Ben Elton’s Upstart Crow.

The sitcom sees Rouse play Bottom, William Shakespeare’s manservant alongside David Mitchell and Harry Enfield.

Compere for the evening is Coleraine’s Martin Mor who has long been a firm favourite with audiences up and down the country.

The former circus acrobat mixes quality gags with flawless audience interaction, all done with a big sense of fun. Cornwall’s loveable, yet ever so slightly bonkers, Harriet Dyer completes the line-up.

The show starts at 8.30pm prompt and admission is £12 on the door or £10 advance from the venue or online – further info in 07874 152 338

Venue address:  Chorlton Irish Club, High Lane, Chorlton M21 9DJ
