Former Manchester City star Paul Lake was hand at the ASIC Greater Manchester Marathon to help raised more than £2,000 for Stockport charity Jump Space.
Paul, who played for City between 1986 and 1996, collected donations in the official massage tent, run by Worsley-based Athlete Matters and manned by physiotherapy students from the University of Salford, who volunteered their time for free.
Marathon runners paid £5 for post-race massages, with all monies being donated to Jump Space, the Hardman Street charity that provides trampolining and rebound therapy to disabled children and young people.
Jump Space patron Lake, 47, a former physio himself, was on hand to help everything run smoothly.
Paul said: “We’re so grateful to XtraMile Events for inviting us to fundraise at the Greater Manchester Marathon.
“It was a fantastic day all round, and I’d like to thank the runners who donated and the student volunteers and Athlete Matters staff who so kindly gave up their time.”
Jump Space are also in the running to win up to £,5,000 of kitchen equipment with the Stoves Community Kitchens scheme.
