Poynton Brass Band busk raises £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support

The Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band put on a festive busk at Cheadle Royal to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The band played a selection of Christmas tunes outside Sainsbury’s and John Lewis with a total of £502.70 raised for Macmillan.
Poynton Brass Band chairman Frank Needham said: “We are delighted that we have been able to raise so much money for such a worthy cause that’s close to our hearts this year.

“We are looking forward to a busy 2019 of concerts and contests and will be helping our sponsors – the Vernon Building Society – to raise money for charities in Stockport and the local area.”

The band’s performance marks the fourth year that they have performed the festive Christmas busk.

Ian Keeling, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Vernon, said: “Once again the Vernon Brass Band put on a fantastic show for the community and raised much needed funds for a worthy cause.

“It is incredible to see the way in which the local community comes together to help others during the Christmas season.”

The Vernon also raised £106.02 on their annual Christmas jumper day, raising money for Cash for Kids who respond to the need of young people across Greater Manchester.
