Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor is calling for runners to join her at this year’s Great Manchester Run in support of Stockport charity Beechwood Cancer Care Centre.
Sally, who is best known for her long-standing role in the Manchester soap, will be taking part in the run in her role as a patron for Beechwood on Sunday, May 28.
The actress first became aware of Beechwood and its services through a friend and fellow actress Morag Siller, who was also a patron of the charity – but sadly lost her own battle with breast cancer in April 2016, at the age of just 46.
Sally, who has lived through breast cancer herself, has attended many Beechwood events, including the Ladies’ Lunch, Butterfly Ball and switched on the Tree of Lights last Christmas, and wants to continue her support with the run.
She said: “I am so touched by what Beechwood does for people – from individuals to families.
“So I am delighted to represent them by running the Great Manchester Run. I still need to fit in a lot more training but I am really looking forward to the day – and hope lots of people can join me in support of this fabulous charity.”
This year there is an option to run a half-marathon route or the usual 10km – limited spaces are still available in both categories and all Beechwood asks is that you aim to raise a minimum of £120 for the charity.
Angela Gray, fundraising manager at Beechwood, on Chelford Grove, Bridgehall, said: “We are so excited for this year’s Great Manchester Run and we are delighted that Sally will be running for us.
“Thank you to everyone who has joined Team Beechwood so far and we look forward to more people signing up.”
