Cheshire’s Speedworks Motorsport and driver Tom Ingram clinched their respective Independent titles at Brands Hatch over the weekend.
Ingram was in with a shout of the overall Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship drivers’ title as the series entered its final round of 2018.
But the reigning Independent Drivers champion missed out on the honour despite a heroic fourth place in race two that saw him narrowly miss out to BMW racer Colin Turkington, who took the third BTCC title of his career.
Speedworks backed up their 2017 team victory with a repeat of the honour, seeing team boss Christian Dick climb the podium steps once more to claim the 2018 Independent Team crown for the second time.
Speaking to btcc.net Ingram said: “I gave it everything I had. The boys worked so hard for that race as they have done all season.
“We had to give it everything but well done to Colin (Turkington), he’s done the job again. He’s ever the professional. He scores the points and knows what he needs to do.
“I’d have loved to have beaten him – maybe next year. For everyone at home that have shown us so much support this year, I can’t thank them enough.
“We’ve had a stellar year and it’s fantastic to have won both Independent titles again. I’m going to have a little moment to myself but we know what we can work on and we’ll come back even stronger next year.”
