Stockport recommerce site musicMagpie supports charity campaign

Stockport recommerce site musicMagpie.co.uk has launched a new scheme to raise funds for Stand Up To Cancer, a joint national campaign from Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 to fund life-saving research.

New customers at the Hazel Grove-based firm who trade-in over £10 worth of unwanted items will receive an additional £5 bonus from musicMagpie for themselves, and once the trade-in is processed at HQ, musicMagpie will also donate £5 to the campaign.

All funds raised will help with its translational research into new tests and treatments.

Liam Howley, marketing director at musicMagpie, said: “Stand Up To Cancer is one of our key charity partners, and we are really excited to be able to help raise essential funds.

“Not only will customers get the chance to declutter and make money through sending us their unwanted items, they’ll also be raising money for a great cause.

“It really is a perfect way for customers to donate simply by selling things they don’t use any more.

“We’d urge anyone with unwanted CDs, DVDs, games, books, phones or electronics to sell them to musicMagpie and we’ll donate £5 on their behalf to a great cause.

They also have the option to donate the full amount they make to the charity as one of our payment options.”

New customers simply need to enter the referral code SU2CMM2016 during the registration process to qualify to help raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

Claire Rowney, Director of Stand Up To Cancer UK, said: “We are extremely happy that musicMagpie has chosen to launch this new scheme just to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

“One in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime which is why it’s so important that we do everything we can to beat it.

“Every penny raised by this scheme will go to our research to find new treatments and tests that will save lives.”
