An interactive digital history project that brings alive the history of the Heaton has been shortlisted for potential funding.
Time Tourist uses augmented reality on mobile phones and tablets via an app to take the user on a ‘walk’ though the area’s past using old photos and film footage superimposed on live images.
Damyon Garrity, working with the Heatons Heritage Society, is hoping to secure £9,700 from Stockport Council’s Community Investment Fund to get the project off the ground.
Damyon, who is a graphic designer and university lecturer, said: “Time Tourist will be a community project and will work with community groups and schools.
“If we can secure the funding it will allow us to put together a full business case for this exciting local project.”
The Community Investment Fund was set up to invest in the best ideas for making Stockport’s communities stronger, to help people to grow and thrive, encouraging them to take pride in their community and participate fully in democratic and social activities.
