Heaton Moor Rugby Club’s under-16s won the Lancashire Bowl, beating Trafford Metrovicks 50-17 at Fylde RUFC with Oliver Reynolds named man of the match.
After surging into an early lead Moor had to withstand a spirited comeback from TMV before closing the game out comprehensively in the latter stages.
The club’s under-14s won the annual Aldwinians Tournament against five other teams from Cheshire and Lancashire, beating Sefton in the final 41-7.
Phil Yeomans, chairman of minis and juniors at Heaton Moor, said: “It’s great to see the players across all age groups enjoying the benefits from the hard work they’ve put in this year.
“With yesterday’s results and the recent success for our under-10s and under-11s at the Barkers Butts Festival in Coventry, we’re finishing the season in style”.
To complete a great weekend, Heaton Mersey under-12s boys’ lacrosse team won the Onongada Cup for the first time since 2004 against Mellor – winners for the past two years – at the NEMLA Flags Festival, winning the final 12-7.
