The England under-19 lacrosse team, containing plenty of young stars from South Manchester, are looking forward to playing in the World Championships in Canada in July.

They will be taking on teams from Canada, USA (winners of all of the previous tournaments), Iroquois Nationals, Australia, Israel, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, Mexico, Spain, China, Ireland, Scotland and Korea at the event close to Vancouver.

As lacrosse receives no funding the boys are either working, studying, training and fund raising as the total cost of the trip is £4,500 per team member.

As well as numerous fundraising activities, a funding page has been set up.

They will be holding a gala dinner on June 10 when the team will be presented with their shirts. Fundraising will continue at the dinner and the team are seeking silent auction and raffle prizes.

The players in the squad are: Freddie Atkins, Josh Blower, Grady Jackson-Fayle, Daniel Walker, Elliott Hurry (all Timperley),  Joseph Cara, Tim Collins.
