Website designer Jason Walker raised more than £3,000 for St Ann’s Hospice in the Great North Run.

Jason, 48, is a member of Poynton Runners and also a front-row forward at Macclesfield Rugby Club.

Jason, from Poynton, said: “I’ll probably hang up my boots up before long but wanted to do something to keep active and had never run until a couple of years ago.

“Poynton Runners is free and run by volunteers. We meet three times a week and our group has runners of all different levels. Some have done marathons and others had never run  at all.

“I really enjoy it and everyone can run at their own speed. Seven of us were among 57,000 runners who took part in the Great North Run. It was a great day and we’re delighted to raise funds for such a good cause.”

Running with Jason were Rob Dunley, Gavin McKay, Charlotte Phillips, Helen Fotheringham, Helen Thompson and Rhona Johnson.

Jason raised more than £1,200 with clients and staff at his digital marketing company Search and More supporting his fundraising efforts.
