Stockport rider Christian Iddon has signed up to ride for PBM Ducati for the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.

The Penrith-based squad is Britiain’s most successful motorcycle racing team and has seven BSB titles, including the 2019 crown with riders Scott Redding and Josh Brookes, who will partner Iddon.

Iddon said: “I’m absolutely over the moon to be joining seven-times champions PBM, they absolutely have the credentials.

“I’m a big advocate that hard work pays off. Results haven’t been as I’d hoped for over the last few seasons, but this to me is a result and hopefully the start of good things to come.

“I plan to grab this opportunity with both hands and make the most of it. Thank you to everyone who supports me, I’m really excited for this new chapter in my racing.”

Iddon will ride a factory-backed PBM Ducati V4 R for a crack at the 2020 championship after claiming Riders’ Cup honours in 2019 despite suffering a broken leg.

PBM team owner Paul Bird added: “Christian has suffered nothing but bad luck in recent seasons, so this is his best chance.

“The opposition have seen what we can do with a raw rookie in Scott Redding, so with two very experienced riders on board, we are hopeful of continuing our success with Ducati in BSB.”
