Over 150 sportive cyclists raised £8,500 for the national disabled children’s charity Seashell Trust in Stockport.
Riders from as far afield as Maidenhead, Stoke and Wales as well as local cycling clubs Cheshire Mavericks and SK6 Spinners took on the 30-miles, 60-mile or the epic leg-busting 100-mile route throughout the Cheshire countryside and the Peak District.
British Cycling had named the Seashell event as one of the top 10 sportives for women.
The money raised will help provide specially adapted bikes for young people from across the country with complex physical and learning difficulties cared for by the charity.
The ride started and finished at its national centre of excellence in Cheadle Hulme.
Cycling is one of the few means of independent transport open to the charity’s students and is vital to their fitness, balance, and enjoyment.
Jo Barber, Seashell Trust fundraiser, said: “Thanks to all the participants, volunteers and the sponsor Carillion Morgan Sindall, as well as supporters VeloTech Cheshire, PZ Cussons, Brazen PR, NJL Consulting and Sports Tours International. We are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
