St Ann’s Hospice has appointed commercial law firm Brabners to provide business advice and support to its Greater Manchester-based team.

Following a competitive tender process, the north west law firm was chosen to support the charity with a range of specialist advice, including charity and employment law, property, wills and probate, and commercial contracts.

St Ann’s Hospice operates from three sites across Greater Manchester, with hospices in Cheadle, Worsley and Wythenshawe, and runs a range of community services for local patients.

Brabners will also be supporting the charity with its trading company, which comprises 14 shops, a distribution centre and hospice lottery.

Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, said: “The hospice is a very complex business, operating from multiple locations in Greater Manchester, and we experience many of the same challenges and opportunities as other similar sized organisations.

“The hospice sector – and the health and social care world in general – are changing at a rapid pace, and we’re looking forward to working with the team from Brabners, and benefiting from their specialist knowledge and expertise.”

Nick Campbell, client relationship partner at Brabners, based on King Street in Manchester, added: “St Ann’s Hospice is one of the oldest and largest outside of London, and its teams have been providing invaluable support to the residents of Greater Manchester since the 1970s.

“The nature of its work means it requires specialist services and advice to be able to support both patients and their families, and we’re looking forward to supporting and working in partnership with the team as the organisation develops.”
