Seashell Trust is proud to announce the Stockport business initiative for students, Gander, has adopted them as its charity partner.
Gander builds relationships between the business community and colleges in Stockport.
It gives the workforce of the future an insight, or ‘gander’ into their business, and employers are supporting the future of Stockport and its economy.
Students benefit from seeing and hearing about the wide range of local industries and the opportunities they can provide.
Gander partnered with the Cheadle Hulme disability charity to launch its successful Young Business of the Year competition last year.
Team Solarium from Aquinas College won the top prize by starting a tuck shop to raise money and awareness for the trust which educates and cares for children and young people with severe learning difficulties.
The contest for students at Aquinas College, Cheadle and Marple College and Stockport College will be running again in September.
Christian Mancier, Gander co-founder and chair of the Stockport Economic Alliance, said: “After the success of our partnership running the inaugural Business Challenge together, we are delighted to partner with and promote the Seashell Trust and its students, who attend college and learn life skills, in just the same way as all their peers in our three partner colleges.”
Wendy Bray, from Seashell Trust, said: “We are delighted and incredibly grateful Gander has chosen Seashell as its charity partner. We are very much looking forward to working with them and the colleges on a number of projects to help raise both funds for and awareness of our work.
‘It is fantastic local young people will be supporting young people with profound disabilities in Stockport.”
