Exclusive South Manchester News discount for Tough Tribe

Tough Tribe – one of the UK’s most exciting newcomers to the OCR (obstacle course race) – is back in Stockport this September.

It will take place on Sunday, September 23, at Woodbank Park and is open to individuals and teams – and we have an exclusive offer for South Manchester News readers.

Simply add the discount code ‘LL partner’ at the checkout to get a £15 discount on the entry fee – but be quick as the next prize rise is August 1.

There is also a 10% discount available for teams of 10 – and all 10 people do not need to enter together.

What is Tough Tribe

The mixed-terrain event with 5km and 10km versions was established by Stockport charitable trust and not-for-profit social enterprise Life Leisure.

Obstacle racing is the fastest growing mass participation sport in the UK, with around a quarter-of-a-million people taking part every year.

Participants of all abilities, aged 16 and over, are invited to unleash their inner warrior by taking on a mix of obstacle walls, scramble nets, high inclines, rope climbs, and pulleys, as well as challenging new obstacles.

This year’s race is a family affair, with a special event for children aged eight and over.

As well as testing their mettle, Tough Tribers will also be able to enjoy food, refreshments, and family activities across the dedicated ‘race village’. With an event capacity of 1,000, places are expected to fill up fast.

Michaela Pennington, Operations Director at Life Leisure, said: “We are delighted to return for a second year of Tough Tribe, which is fast becoming a key date in the UK OCR calendar.

“Over 500 people travelled from all over the country to take part last year, and we have double the capacity this year at Woodbank Park, where the space and topography is perfect for an event of this type.

“This year, we are particularly keen to attract people who would not normally think of taking part in this type of event.

“The course is designed so that participants can omit obstacles that are beyond their level of fitness. Tribes of elite athletes will set off first, so nobody will feel left behind.

“The emphasis is on challenging yourself and enjoying trying something different. I can’t reveal the new obstacles yet.

“All I can say for now is that the finish will be worth it, and in true Tough Tribe fashion, provide some great photo opportunities.”
