Join us at Stockport Plaza on Saturday, May 26, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm when we present our George Formby Double Bill (Cert U) on the giant silver screen as we delight in hosting two classic films from his 1940s releases.
‘Let George Do It’ finds George shortly after the start of World War II as a member of the Dinkie Doo Concert Party taking the wrong boat and finding himself in Norway.
He is mistaken for a British intelligence agent by the alluring Mary, a British Spy, and becomes involved in trying to defeat Nazi agents.
‘Turned Out Nice Again’ has George working for an underwear firm that is 20 years out of date where he invests his own money in a new type of thread.
The company are not interested in changes, and he is fired. Later the firm discover that the thread has revolutionized the garment industry and they move quickly to hire him back before the opposition hear the news and make him a better offer.
Tickets for our George Formby Double Bill can be purchased in advance from the box office here at The Plaza on Mersey Square, by calling our booking team on 0161 477 7779 or by visiting The Plaza website.
