Stockport Town host Rochdale Town in the Reusch First Division Cup quarter-final on Tuesday night at Stockport Sports Village.
This fixture was due to be played at Rochdale Town over the period of last month. However, two consecutive postponements saw cup rules reverse the fixture and now sees Stockport at home.
The Lions’ previous match was called off at Holker Old Boys and therefore go into this fixture on the back of a valuable 1-0 away win in the league over playoff hopefuls Ashton Town just over a week ago.
Meanwhile, Rochdale also saw their last match postponed away at Ashton Town and so they go into this game on their most recent result, an impressive 4-2 away win at Daisy Hill, and then followed a 4-3 win in a thriller at home to Atherton LR, making in eight goals in their last two games.
Calum Sykes will be hoping to call upon all his players who impressed at Ashton’s MSO Stadium last weekend, including new signing and match winner Chris Sherrington.
Jonathan Thompson will once again look to be Rochdale’s star player and the striker will be looking to help his side progress into the semi-finals as he aims for his 16th goal in all competitions.
Kick-off at Stockport Sports Village is 8pm, Lambeth Grove, Woodley, SK6 1QX.
